The 2020 Bihar Assembly elections saw the Indian National Congress (INC)’s Chhatrapati Yadav win the seat of Khagaria, beating Poonam Devi Yadav of the Janata Dal (United) (JD(U)) by 3,000 votes only. Chhatrapati Yadav obtained 31.14% of the total votes cast and Poonam Devi Yadav managed only 29.15%. out of the total votes cast. This victory was a turning point for the INC in the region, where the political dominance of JD(U) was a foregone conclusion.
