KL Rahul has been declared fit for IPL 2024, with T20 World Cup selection currently under cloud as BCCI advises against it.

KL Rahul has been declared fit for IPL 2024: The National Cricket Academy (NCA) has cleared and declared Indian batsman KL Rahul fully fit to join the franchise, giving a significant boost to the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) ahead of the 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL) season.

Rahul, the Lucknow franchise captain, will return in 2024. The 31-year-old missed the rest of 2023 due to a mid-tour injury that required surgery. The LSG skipper missed the past four Test matches of the India-England series due to a quadriceps injury, casting doubt on his 2024 participation.

According to the Indian Express, the BCCI medical department has assessed that Rahul is healthy enough to attend the LSG camp in the coming days. Rahul’s fitness is conditional because he won’t keep wickets for the first few matches.

He can join the IPL in a few days due to his fitness. He received an injection for quadriceps soreness. After rehabilitation, the NCA declared him healthy. A BCCI source said that The Indian Express did not advise him to take over wicket-keeping duties.

What is KL Rahul’s T20 World Cup chance?

Rahul’s inability to save wickets could hurt his hopes of reaching the T20 World Cup 2024 Indian side, however, the BCCI has not commented. Rahul has not played Twenty20 internationals since India’s 2022 T20 World Cup semi-final loss to England. He was unable to open the window for India against England as Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shubman Gill, and captain Rohit Sharma competed.

Rahul batted in the middle order and kept wickets for India in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023. Rumors suggested that Rohit’s T20 World Cup 2024 squad questioned the keeper’s position, thus they rumored him to remain in that role. If Rahul is declared unfit, securing a spot in the squad may become harder.

Given his performance in ODI and Test cricket, Rahul may move to the middle order for LSG in the IPL 2024.
