The coronavirus pandemic has put hold on all the major industries. Film Industry has been affected by it severely. The film releases got postponed as all the theatres have been shut down.
The film industry has taken one of the biggest blows since the release and production of many films were put on hold indefinitely due to the present lockdown put in place to curb the coronavirus menace. With theatres being sealed across the country for almost 50 days now, it seems like production houses are thinking of how to move forward.
On the other hand, OTT platforms are witnessing a huge jump in traffic as cinema halls remain shut amid lockdown.
Netflix-led OTT platforms threaten cable TV in India: Report
Here is the list of Bollywood movies which will be released on OTT platforms:
Laxmi Bomb – Disney+ Hotstar
Directed by Raghava starring Akshay Kumar and Kiara Advani, Laxmi Bomb will be released on the Disney+ Hotstar channel. The filmmakers are in talks with the channel to release the movie digitally. The movie was scheduled to be released on May 22, however, as there is still a lot of post-production work in the pipeline, this horror-comedy will be released in June.
Gulabo Sitabo – Amazon Prime Video
Gulabo Sitabo, which will be released digitally on Amazon Prime Video. The film is a family comedy that features Ayushmann Khurana and Amitabh Bachchan, directed by Shoojit Sircar. As per reports, the rights of the film have been acquired by Amazon Prime video after the director revealed that he’s “open to a digital release if need be”.
Shershaah – Netflix
Shershah is to be broadcasted on Netflix, with Sidharth Malhotra and Kiara Advani as its protagonists. The movie is based on the life of Param Vir Chakra awardee Captain Vikram Batra.
Since the shooting of these films has been wrapped up with shooting, they will undergo their respective post-production modules before hitting the OTT platforms.
