Leaked Images of Production-Ready Kia EV5 Electric SUV: Kia is actively working to expand its global lineup of electric vehicles. The Korean automaker’s top priority model, the EV5, was scheduled to make its global début on August 25 at the Chengdu Motor Show in China. However, via an official filing with the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), all the important details and final production design have already been released online.

Let’s examine the forthcoming Kia EV5 electric SUV’s specifications. The Kia EV5, as depicted in leaked images, appears to be a smaller variant of the EV9, the brand’s flagship electric SUV. While the design does not deviate significantly from the concept version, there are a number of notable modifications, including redesigned headlamps and tail lamps, more prominent charging ports, flush door handles, and more.

In addition, the front profile features the signature Tiger Nose design pattern, and the concept version’s alloy wheel size has been reduced. In terms of dimensions, the EV5 measures 4,615 mm in length, 1,875 mm in width, 1,715 mm in height, and 2,750 mm in wheelbase length.

The curb weight of the electric SUV is 1,880 kilogrammes. The EV5 will be propelled by a single electric motor producing 218 horsepower and 310 Nm of peak torque, with an electronically limited maximum speed of 185 kilometres per hour. The dual-motor AWD model could be introduced at a later date.

According to media reports, the battery cell capacity will be approximately 82 kWh, and the global model will use NMC construction with a claimed range of approximately 600 kilometres on a single charge. In contrast, the Chinese-specification model will utilise the BYD LPF Blade battery.

As the EV9 is presently scheduled to debut in 2024, it is unlikely that the EV5 will make its way to the Indian market any time soon.
