The Haryana government was highly criticized by the Punjab and Haryana High Court, a day after 31 people were killed and more than 250 were injured in violence started by supporters of Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh after he was found guilty of rape.
The court had even said that the government “let a city like Panchkula burn over political motives.”
The government was slammed for terrible negligence of a situation that soon went out of control moments after the decision was declared in Panchkula.
The government was also accused of letting at least 1.5 lakh Dera Sacha Sauda followers, the sect led by Ram Rahim, to enter into Panchkula and other towns ahead of the judgment.
The Punjab and Haryana High Court said, “You surrendered to the situation.”
