On Friday, at least 31 people were killed and more than 250 were injured in violence in Panchkula and Sirsa after a special Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) court convicted a self-styled godman, Ram Rahim Singh in connection with his alleged involvement in a 2002 rape case.
Prime Minister, Narendra Modi tweeted that the violence in BJP-ruled Haryana was “deeply distressing” and appealed for peace, suggesting that the “law & order situation” under the Manohar Lal Khattar-led administration was also being “monitored”.
Joining the league, Yoga guru, Baba Ramdev has also tweeted about Ram Rahim. However, he did not name Ram Rahim anywhere in his tweet. Ramdev writes, “Religion is the best practice of life. Violence, insanity, madness, superstition and hypocrisy is not religion.”
