What Happened at the Mehndi Ceremony?
Police reports state that the incident occurred at nighttime during a wedding-related mehndi celebration in the Nehrugram location which falls under Raipur police station territory. A man at the ceremony who had a licensed gun concealed in his waist area discharged his weapon while guests danced.
Kamal Kumar Yadav, a resident of Garhwali Colony, Nehrugram, told the police in his complaint that a pre-wedding mehndi ceremony was taking place at his home. Several people, including his acquaintance Laxman Singh Negi, were dancing.
The bullet struck a woman in the leg, causing significant injury and immediate chaos at the venue. The medical staff at the nearby hospital provided treatment to her after she arrived at their facility. The authorities stated that the event could have turned into a more serious situation because many children and family members attended the festivity.

The police officials stated that the gunshot incident occurred because of the gunman who aimed his weapon at the ground when he discharged his firearm. Had the weapon been pointed differently, multiple casualties could have occurred.
