Two days post the Lok Sabha election schedule was announced by the Election Commission of India, West Bengal chief minister and All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) chief, Mamata Banerjee announced the list of candidates for the upcoming general elections.
Among the list, Moon Moon Sen will contest the election again from Asansol.
Sen had joined Trinamool Congress in 2014, winning the then Lok Sabha polls from Bankura constituency. She defeated nine times MP Basudeb Acharia.
Moon Moon Sen is known as Indian film actress best known for her work in Bengali, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Marathi, Kannada films and then she eventually starred in Bollywood movies. She has appeared in 60 films and 40 television series. Moon Moon has received Andhra Pradesh state Nandi Award for Best Supporting Actress in 1987, for her role in the film Sirivennela.

Moon Moon Sen was married in 1978 to a descendant of the royal family of Tripura state. They have two daughters, actresses Raima Sen and Riya Sen.
Moon Moon Sen is the daughter of famous Indian film actress Suchitra Sen who worked in Bengali and Hindi cinema. She was the first Indian actress to receive an award at an international film festival. Suchitra Sen refused Dadasaheb Phalke award to stay out of the public eye. She died on January 17, 2014, due to a heart attack.
Now, Moon Moon Sen is all set to contest the election and will be competing with playback singer Babul Supriyo from Asansol. Trinamool Congress is yet to win elections from this constituency.
