Lok Sabha Elections 2024: NRI Voting Guide – Step by Step Process to Cast Your Vote

  • When you get to the Voters’ Service Portal, click on “Forms.”
  • Second, under “New registration for overseas (NRI) electors,” click on “Fill Form 6A.”
  • You must also send self-attested copies of your passport, your address in India, a valid visa endorsement, and a recent color picture that fits in a passport.
  • After filling out the form, you can send it in person or by mail.
  • If you send it by mail, make sure you include self-attested copies of all the papers you need.
  • When you turn in your application in person, you must show your original passport to the Electoral Registration Officer or Assistant ERO in your district.

After people have registered, officials at the booth level will check the names listed in their papers. NRIs can vote by showing their original papers at the voting place on election day. This is also true if there are any mistakes in the electoral roll. Form 8 can be used to fix any mistakes.

The Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) will send a decision by mail to the address on file and by text message to the phone number on Form 6A. NRIs will also not get an Electors Photo Identity Card (EPIC). Instead, they must go to their designated voting place in person and show their original papers to prove who they are.
