Patna: Aakash Prasad Singh who is 27 years old will be contesting Lok Sabha election from Bihar and is the youngest to contest from the state this time. Politics is not something new for him as he belongs to a political rich family with a broad history.
He is a son of Congress Bihar campaign committee in charge and Rajya Sabha MP Akhilesh Prasad Singh and he is contesting against Union minister Radha Mohan Singh from Purvi Champaran parliamentary constituency on an RLSP ticket.
RLSP which is a grand alliance ally by former union minister Upendra Kushwaha had announced Aakash’s candidature on Wednesday. In 2005, Aakash’s mother contested state assembly elections from Arwal but was unsuccessful.
Aakash has done schooling from St Paul’s School at Darjeeling and higher education from Brunel University, London. Aakash confidently told reporters that he would win the seat by at least 3 lakh votes.
He said in a statement I was always interested in politics as I was born in a political family. I had been in touch with Upendra Kushwahaji for a long time and got associated with his party around six months ago. People of Motihari wanted someone from my family to contest the election and defeat Radha Mohan Singh. Kushwahaji also told me one day that if I contest from Motihari, I will win. Accordingly, I decided to enter the poll.”
He also said that if he will be elected he would work in the development of the constituency. He said that the development that was stopped after the end of his father’s reign will return. He has planned to develop a multi-purpose sports stadium in Motihari and also generate job opportunities.
