Earlier Congress has expelled senior leader Satyavrat Chaturvedi for six years after he campaigned for his son Nitin Chaturvedi, a Samajwadi party candidate from Rajnagar in Bundelkhand region of Madhya Pradesh. On Thursday morning, Congress expelled 14 rebel leaders including Nitin Chaturvedi over involvement in anti-party activities.
Apart from Satyavrat Chaturvedi, Congress sitting MLA from Jhabua, Xavier Meda has been expelled for six years for anti-party activities. Currently, he is contesting from Jhabua as an Independent candidate.
Former MP Chief Minister and State Congress Coordination Committee In-Charge, Digvijaya Singh, opined that Chaturvedi should not have fielded his son from Samajwadi Party.
