BJP state media coordinator of its scheduled caste cell, Neeraj Shakya has been expelled from the party after he was arrested by the Bhopal Police cyber cell for allegedly running a sex racket.

Neeraj along with eight of his associates was arrested on Friday as the police rescued four girls who were trapped in a flat in the E 7 locality of Bhopal. According to the Police, the gang would call women to Bhopal, promising them jobs. However, these women were later forcefully pushed to prostitution.

Notably, Neeraj and gang would track these women from a human resource website. They would make calls exploiting the details from their resume and ask them to come to Bhopal, offering them fake jobs.

The gang consist of nine members of which one is still at large. The gang would exclusively target north-eastern women and those hailing from the southern states.

Police have also recovered a contact book from the accused and are verifying the numbers that are listed in it.

“We have found contact details of several girls and some high profile people in the contact book. Their involvement is being investigated and once it is established, action would be taken accordingly,” police said.

Though the Bharatiya Janta Party initially denied any association with Neeraj, but once the letter announcing his appointment started circulating on social media the party announced his exclusion.
