The Maharashtra Common Entrance Test (CET) cell is conducting a survey on the feasibility of holding the entrance tests in the state. However, the Maharashtra government will take a decision on MHT CET 2020 exam dates by next week in the meeting, says State Higher and Technical Education Minister Uday Samant.
During the interaction with the media on Thursday after the review meeting, the minister stated that the biggest problem in holding the CET exam is the large number of students who will take the exam.
Thus, a total of 5.5 lakh students applied for the examination this year. To conduct the exam by following all the social distancing rules is the biggest concern.
He also said that the CET Commissioner is conducting a survey on whether the CET exam can be held at the taluka level as well at the divisional level. Autonomous powers have been given to the commissioners to hold the examination, as per Maharashtra Times reports.
Previously, Commissioner of CET Cell, Sandeep Kadam said the CET cell has asked the state government about the conduct of the entrance exam and that they are waiting for the government’s decision on the announcement of the dates.
“As soon as instructions from the government are issued we will declare dates” he said.
MHT CET 2020 examination was slated in July and August 2020, which has been delayed due to the rising number of cases across the state. The fresh dates whenever decided will be available on the official site of MHT CET at mhtcet.org.
