Maharashtra Shocker: 12 children given two drops of sanitizer instead of Polio, DM orders enquiry 

All children were under five years of age. Action will be taken against three health workers for this lapse. The official said the incident took place at Bhanbora Primary Health Centre in Kapasikopri village.

A major case of negligence of officers has been reported in Maharashtra’s Yavatmal. As in a village, 12 children were given two drops of Sanitizer instead of polio drops. Thereafter, the health of all 12 children began to deteriorate. The children started vomiting. 

Since then all the children have been admitted to a government hospital. After the case has surfaced, the district magistrate has ordered an inquiry into the entire matter.

An official from the district said the affected children have been admitted to a government hospital where their condition is stable. 

All children were under five years of age. Action will be taken against three health workers for this lapse. The official said the incident took place at Bhanbora Primary Health Centre in Kapasikopri village where a national pulse polio vaccination programme is being carried out for children between one and five years.

Shri Srikrishna Pangaat, Yavatmal Zilla Parishad said that 12 children under the age of five were given two drops of sanitizer instead of polio drops. 

He said that according to preliminary information, a doctor, an Anganwadi worker, and an Asha worker were present at the primary health centre at the time of the incident. The investigation has been initiated and all three health workers will be suspended.
