Mahindra Vision S SUV India Launch: Mahindra is moving nearer to expanding its compact SUV line up with the upcoming Vision S, a rugged new model that has been repeatedly spotted testing on Indian roads ahead of its market debut. While the company hasn’t officially pinned down the launch date or technical specs, recent test sightings and concept clues suggest that the Vision S may become one of Mahindra’s most meaningful launches in the very competitive sub-four-metre SUV space.
Mahindra Vision S SUV India Launch

The Vision S first popped up as a concept during Mahindra’s Freedom NU event on Independence Day 2025, where the automaker showed off its next SUV plan built around the brand new Nu_IQ modular platform. Since then, multiple test mules have been seen across India suggesting that development of the production version is progressing steadily.
Exterior
The Mahindra Vision S carries unmistakable SUV proportions with an upright stance, squared-off body panels and a muscular design that has led many enthusiasts to describe it as a “baby Scorpio.” Recent spy photographs reveal that the production version retains much of the concept’s bold styling while incorporating road-ready components.

Up front the fascia is meant to show that signature LED lighting, a bold grille and rather chunky bumpers while the side view puts emphasis on generous ground clearance, flared wheel arches and door handles that sit flush. There’s a tailgate mounted spare wheel which is one of the concept’s more standout things and it’s expected to land on the production version too.
Industry observers believe the Vision S could eventually replace or significantly influence the future direction of the Bolero Neo, although Mahindra has not officially confirmed its positioning.

New Nu_IQ Platform

One of the biggest highlights of the Vision S is its underlying Nu_IQ architecture. Mahindra says the new modular platform has been designed to support petrol, diesel, hybrid and fully electric powertrains while also allowing front-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive configurations for future models.

For the initial launch, however, the Vision S is widely expected to arrive with internal combustion engines. Reports suggest Mahindra could borrow the proven 1.2-litre turbo-petrol and 1.5-litre turbo-diesel engines from the XUV 3XO lineup. It might be paired with both manual and automatic transmission options. Recent test vehicles have also hinted at a diesel automatic variant, although the company has yet to confirm final specifications.
Interior

Spy images of the cabin suggest that Mahindra is preparing a feature-rich interior aimed at buyers looking for both practicality and premium appeal.

The production-spec Vision S is expected to receive a dual-screen dashboard layout combining the infotainment system and digital instrument cluster. Other anticipated features include a panoramic sunroof, automatic climate control, connected car technology, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
It is also equipped multiple airbags, a 360-degree camera and advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) on higher variants. Physical buttons for the core controls are also expected to stay put, giving a bit more human like comfort compared to a fully touch based setup.
Expected Price In India

Mahindra hasn’t announced the official price for the Vision S yet though. Even so, estimates from the automotive industry point to a likely aggressive placement in the compact SUV bracket.
Most market analysts expect an introductory ex-showroom price between ₹7.5 lakh and ₹13 lakh, placing it against established rivals such as the Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Tata Nexon, Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, Skoda Kylaq and other emerging compact SUVs.
India Launch Timeline
Although Mahindra has not officially revealed a launch date, current industry reports indicate that the Vision S is expected to make its production debut around late 2026 before reaching dealerships in 2027. Continuous road testing suggests the SUV is entering the final phases of development.
