On Wednesday, Jamshedpur police have arrested Mubasshir Alam for posting an offensive picture of Prime Minister Narendra Modi which was photoshopped on social media. He was produced on a local court following which he has taken into judicial custody.
Ravi Pratap Vajpayee, officer-in-charge (OC) of the cyber police station (PS) said that investigation has proved the alleged allegations against Alam to be true. The computer from where the offensive image was posted was traced following which he was arrested and sent to the custody. The officer also said that it took time to verify the complaint against the man as technical aspects have to be verified to arrest him under IT Act.
The complaint against the man was lodged by The central Durga Puja Committee and Hindu Peeth president Arun Kumar Singh with the cyber police station on Feb 25 which was the same day when PM Modi had washed the feet of safai karamchari at Prayagraj. After which the man has allegedly posted an obscene photoshopped picture of PM on Facebook.
Arun Kumar’s complaint said “Jamshedpur resident Mubasshir Alam had posted a photoshopped picture of PM taking part in a Hindu ritual on Facebook and has hurt the sentiments and faith of Hindus. He had also insulted and maligned country’s PM. Hence, I request you to take strong action against Mubasshir Alam.”
He also said that nobody is allowed and should not disrespect the PM of the country and we hope that the action taken by the police will refrain anyone from disrespecting and hurting the sentiments of the people.
