Bihar Polls 2020: HAM's Jitan Ram Manjhi writes to PM Modi demanding probe in Ram Vilas Paswan's death

Just a day ahead of the second phase of Bihar Assembly Elections, Jitan Ram Manjhi’s Hindustani Awam Morcha (HAM) on Monday wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi demanding an investigation into the death of Union Minister and Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) patron Ram Vilas Paswan. In the letter, HAM raised several questions and pointed at his son Chirag Paswan’s role.

“On the very second day after the last rites, Chirag Paswan was seen smiling during a shoot, and this has raised several questions in the minds of people. These bring Chirag’s role in question,” the letter released by HAM stated.

Meanwhile, Chirag Paswan ridiculed Manjhi for not visiting his ailing father. “Those who are talking such things about a son should be ashamed of themselves. I had told Manjhi ji about my father’s serious condition over phone, yet he never came to see my ailing father,” Chirag said today.

Why didn’t he show much concern about my father when he was hospitalised, the LJP president asked. “Everyone is playing politics over a dead person now, why no one bothered to visit him when he was alive,” Paswan said.

Paswan also hit out at Bihar Chief Minister and Janata Dal (United) president Nitish Kumar. In a letter written to Nitish, Paswan said the CM was suddenly appearing worried about the last days of his father Ram Vilas Paswan, who passed away recently.

“You appear worried about my father’s last days. But you never enquired about his health when he was alive. It is strange that when everyone knew about my father’s health condition, including the PM and President, you expressed ignorance,” Paswan wrote in the letter.

The LJP leader said PM Narendra Modi, on the other hand, continued to enquire about his father’s health during his last days.

“You hold rallies with the PM these days, you can ask him about my father because he was in touch with him till his last breath,” Paswan stated.
