March Madness Upset: All 22 Million Brackets Busted: ESPN’s “Tournament Challenge,” which set a record of more than 22 million entries, ended on Friday night with only three perfect brackets left before James Madison upset Wisconsin 72-61.

After Florida Atlantic’s loss to Northwestern on Thursday, only 1,825 brackets remained after NC State, Oakland, and Duquesne upset their respective opponents.

After No. 10 seed Colorado beat seventh-seeded Florida on Friday, there were only 62 perfect brackets left. Yale defeated Auburn on Saturday to make it down to 10.

Before Wisconsin lost to James Madison, ESPN had three perfect brackets left, while CBS’ and NCAA’s sites had already been busted.

How likely is it that you’ll have a perfect bracket for March Madness?

Researchers at the University of Hawaii estimate that the odds of pulling off a perfect bracket are 1 in 9223,372,036,854,775,808, or approximately 1 in 9.2 quintillion.

It is estimated that more than 9 million brackets were emptied following Mississippi State’s 69-51 loss to Michigan State and Brigham Young’s 71-67 loss to Duquesne.

In the ESPN “Tournament Challenge”, the third-seeded Wildcats lost to the 14th-seeded Golden Grizzlies.
