Massive blast in firecracker factory in West Bengal’s Duttapukur: At least eight persons were killed and five others were injured when a massive explosion was reported at an illegal firecracker factory in Duttapukur, North 24 Paraganas, only three kilometres from West Bengal State University.

The detonation occurred around 10 a.m. on Sunday in Nilgunj’s Moshpole in the Duttapukur police station area, approximately 30 kilometres north of Kolkata, police said.

According to sources, the building’s roof was completely blown off, and victims’ charred and dismembered corpses were found on roads. The injured have been transported to a hospital nearby.

The authorities have cordoned off the entire area.
