‘C’ in Congress stands for ‘cunning’: Mayawati

In a big jolt to Mayawati’s Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) in Rajasthan, all of party’s six MLAs joined the Congress. With the merger, Congress party now has 106 seats in the 200-seated Assembly where 101 is the majority mark.

MLAs Rajendra Guda, Jogendra Avana, Wajib Ali, Lakhan Singh Meena, Sandeep Yadav and Deepchand Kheriya, have been in constant touch with Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot.

The move comes just two months ahead of local body elections due in November.

“The Congress party has always been against BR Ambedkar and his ideology. This is why Ambedkar had to resign as the country’s first law minister. Congress never honoured him with a Bharat Ratna, which is sad and shameful,” tweeted Mayawati.

“The Congress, instead of fighting its bitter rivals, always harms the parties that support it,” she added. “The Congress party in Rajasthan, by creating a split among the BSP MLAs, has once again proved that it is untrustworthy and a cheat,” she said in a tweet.

The State Assembly now has — 106 Congress MLAs, 72 BJP MLAs, 13 Independents, 2 Bharatiya Tribal Party (BTP), 2 CPI(M), 1 Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) and 2 Rashtriya Loktantrik Party (RLP). Two seats are vacant presently as the MLAs became MPs and by-polls are awaited.
