Microsoft has laid off 559 employees in Bellevue and Redmond, Washington, bringing the total number of job cuts in the area to over 2,700.

Microsoft’s security operations were affected by the reductions announced by the Washington State Employment Security Department, according to The Seattle Times.

In February, the company announced a previous round of cutbacks that affected 617 employees in Redmond, Bellevue, and Issaquah.

According to reports, Charlie Bell, an ex-Amazon Web Services executive who joined Microsoft in 2021, may lay off hundreds of employees in security-related roles.
