Miss World 2021: All about Manasa Varanasi, who is representing India at 70th beauty pageant

Manasa, who hails from Telangana has always worked towards bringing a noticeable change in society with her positive attitude and mindset.

Miss World 2021: It’s been just two days or so, after Miss India 2021, Harnaaz Sandhu represented  the nation at MU and won the pageant of Miss Universe 2021, making India yet again proud after 21 long years. She’s been the third Indian to win the same title after Sushmita Sen (1994) and Lara Dutta ( 2000).

After Chandigarh’s Harnaaz bring laurels back to home by winning this auspicious beauty pageant, Miss India Manasa Varansi is all set for representing the nation at Miss World 2021.

An engineer, Manasa was crowned as Femina Miss India in the year 2020. And now she will be representing India at the Miss World 2021 pageant that is being held on December 16 at Coliseo de Puerto Rico José Miguel Agrelot, San Juan, Puerto Rico.

Toni-Ann Singh of Jamaica, the reigning beauty and Miss World 2021, will be crowning the next successor.

Miss India 2020, Manasa was judged by Neha Dhupia, Falguni Shane Peacock, Chitrangada Singh and Pulkit Samrat and consequently, was crowned with the same title.

Who is Manasa Varanasi?

Born in Hyderabad, Manasa is a financial information exchange analyst. This 23 – year – old enjoys exploring and revolving all around the world of finance. She had her schooling from Global Indian and completed her graduation at Vasavi College of Engineering in Computer Science.

Manasa, who hails from Telangana has always worked towards bringing a noticeable change in society with her positive attitude and mindset. She has been working with less-fortunate kids over the past few years and aspire to work hard for them.

She also advocates to strengthen child protection laws in India and has also been the forerunner of her initiative ‘Beauty With a Purpose’ project .

It has been associated with the Hyderabad police for their campaign ‘We Can,’ which works towards preventing and stopping child sexual abuse in the state.

As a part of the beauty contestant’s ‘Beauty with a Purpose’ round, Manasa’s project made it to the Top 10 at Miss World 2021.

Apart from India, the other nine countries that have made it to the Top 10 list are -Kenya, England, Czech Republic, Sri Lanka, Philippines, USA, Madagascar, South Africa, and Nepal.

Manasa had shared the overwhelming news on Instagram and captioned it as, “Heart overflowing with gratitude!. India, we made it to the Top 10 of Beauty with a Purpose round at Miss World 2021! “

Her BWAP project has also been classified into three pillars – the first step is to create awareness of the child helpline number 1098. The second focuses on the challenges faced to respond in time to a rescue mission due to the lack of resources. And the third revolves around the rescued children. The project is aimed towards protecting and preserving child rights along with their security.

Apart from this, Manasa also shared a video on social media where she described the National gift that will be showcased at Miss India’s charity dinner. Manasa revealed about carrying a special Rasleela painting to describe India’s rich culture. “My national gift for Miss World 2021 is the painting of Rasleela. Rasleela is a popular form of folk theatre especially during the festivals of Krishna Janmashtami and Holi in India.“Rasleela” is a concept from Hinduism, which roughly translates to “play (lila) of aesthetics (rasa),” or more broadly as “Dance of Divine Love,” she wrote alongside the video.

Manasa Varanasi’s early Life and Inspiration

While growing up in her early ages, Manasa grew up as a shy child and  chose Bharatnatyam and music to express herself above words. She also tells about her favorite quote which says, “Tell me, what is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?”

She also quotes herself as an explorer as she says, “I am an explorer and I have always looked for new opportunities to try something new. If there is something interesting that comes along the way, I am sure I would be interested to take it up, but right now, my focus is entirely on the next leg of my journey, which is the Miss World competition. It`s a huge responsibility as I would be representing the country at an international platform.”

Her interests are diverse – ranging all from reading books, music, yoga to dreamy high skies. She also takes it upon herself to observe things that usually go unnoticed and this helps her truly live in the moment.

She draws her inspiration from the Indian actress, Priyanka Nick Jonas.

Theirs is an interview of her where she had said, “Out of all the beauty queens, Priyanaka Chopra stands out to me because out to me because she’s an explorer – she has always chosen to push her boundaries and made her mark in various spaces – music, movies, entrepreneurship, social work, and the list goes on. Also, as a shy kid who tried to make herself heard, I always looked up to Priyanaka for the outspoken badass that she was. It’s her versatility and strength that I draw inspiration from”, quoted her saying, India Today.
