Mob Lynching: Old man beaten to death on suspicion of being child lifter in Jharkhand’s Sahibganj

Ranchi: In another case of mob lynching in Jharkhand, an elderly was beaten to death by villagers on suspicion of being a child lifter in Sahibganj district on Wednesday.

The incident took place in Mandro’s Mirzachoki police station area where tribals allegedly beat the unidentified man. On hearing the news of mob lynching, the village head Sunny Pahadia, freed him and took him to Mirzachoki health center, where man died on the way.

SP HP Janardhan, regional DSP Naval Kishore Sharma, Mufassil Police Station Incharge Prayag Das, Municipal Incharge Dharampal Kumar, Mirzachowki Police Station Incharge Ram Harish Nirala, Pooni Shivnath Yadav reached the Tetria village where the man breathed his last, according to a Prabhat Khabar report. The body was sent to Sahibganj for post-mortem.

Villagers told police that the man was seen in the area several times. He used to come to the mountain to get chiraita and other herbs, they said. On Wednesday, few people misunderstood him as a child lifter and beat him to death.
