Chennai: A 35-year-old man was beaten to death by the villagers after they found out he has sexually harassed minor girls in the village on Sunday night. The incident happened in Pudukottai district of Tamil Nadu.
The deceased has been identified as K Sathivel, who hailed from Kamaraj Nagar near Aranthangi.
According to a report in the Times of India, the police mentioned that the deceased was a drunkard who used to sexually harass girls. Recently, he harassed an eight-year-old girl in an isolated area of the locality. The residents were irked with the man and reported the incident to the local police. Meanwhile, the investigation was pending two of the villagers developed animosity with him.
The accused were identified as 26-year-old Kalidass and 34-year-old Viswanathan.
A report by TOI mentioned that on Sunday the two accused got into a heated argument with him and attacked him. Sakthivel collapsed on the spot. The passerby found Sakthivel lying unconscious and he was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital. The hospital staff declared him brought dead.
However, the police have arrested one of the accused under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code. And the other accused is absconding.
