Model Preeti Jain has been sentenced to three years in prison by the city civil and session court and was also levied a fine of Rs 10,000 for plotting to kill Bollywood filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar. She had earlier filed a rape case against Bhandarkar.

“Some things are better left unsaid! Some things are better left as they are. Life moves on, so have I,” said Bhandarkar in a tweet.

Two of her associates – Naresh Pardeshi and Shivram Das – were also sentenced to three years on charges of conspiracy, helping her and abetting a crime.

However, two other aides from Uttar Pradesh were acquitted in the lack of evidence. Just after the court’s verdict, Jain sought suspension of sentence.

Jain approached Pardeshi to kill Bhandarkar in 2005, and allegedly paid Rs 75,000 for the job. However, as the work was not done, she asked her money back. When the issue reached to Gawli, he then alerted police thorough his men.

A probe was initiated and after a week, the police filed a case on September 10, 2005. Initially, the trial began in the fast-track court in Sewree, but was later the case was sent to the sessions court.
