Launching a scathing attack on Prime Minister Modi, Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi said that he was paid huge money during his stint as Gujarat Chief Minister.

Gandhi said that Modi received crores from the Sahara Group. He said the company paid money to PM Modi on at least occasions within a period of six months.

“As per record with Income Tax, in year 2013, Rs 2.5 cr was given to PM Modi on Oct 30th, Rs 5cr on Nov 12th, Rs 2.5cr on Nov 27th, Rs 5cr on Nov 29th, Rs 5cr on 6th Dec, Rs 5cr on 19th Dec and in year 2014 Rs 5cr on Jan 13th, Rs 5cr on Jan 28th, Rs 5cr Feb 22nd” Rahul Gandhi said while addressing a rally in Gujarat at Mehsana.

“The Income Tax department raided Sahara Company on 22 November, 2014. The records are with I-T department for the last two and half years yet no action has been taken. An independent enquiry must be initiated,” he said.

Calling demonetisation an anti-poor move, Rahul said “Modiji you have burned the pockets of crores of honest, hard-working men and women. You go to a pop concert and laugh it off by claiming that you burned 500- and 1,000-rupee notes”.

He added that if Narendra Modi’s government takes any big or small step to eradicate corruption, the Congress party will support them.

He added demonetisation move wasn’t made against corruption or black money but it was against the honest poor people.

“The objective of Modiji’s plan was to get as much money from the honest into the banks, for at least 6 months, so that he may get to waive-off the pending Rs. 1,40,000 crore in loans taken by the rich You haven’t done a surgical strike but you have firebombed the poor people of the country” Congress Vice president said
