Moral Policing in University College: Youth beaten up by SFI activists for sitting with girls

A Young man who went to Thiruvanthapuram University College to watch a play alleged that he was beaten up by a group of Students Federation of India (SFI) activists for sitting with girls.

Jijesh, the complainant, had gone to the campus for a drama festival along with two students studying there.

The complainant was accompanying his friends Surya Gayatri and Asmitha Kabir when he was attacked.

According to Jijesh, some students associated with SFI came to him during the play and asked him not to sit with the girls. Both group had a verbal discourse regarding the issue. Jijesh left the venue in the middle of the play following the verbal assault.

A group of students beaten up Jijesh on his way back to the main gate of th campus. Jijesh was allegedly beaten up in front of the college vice principal and other students. The female students, who accompanied Jijeesh alleged that the attackers used cuss words against them and even manhandled them.

The Cantonment Police have filed a case based on the complaints.

Meanwhile, SFI said that the members attacked the youth because he misbehaved with a female student who studied in the college.

University College is infamous in Kerala’s capital city for the vandalism by the mainstream left wing’s students organisation.
