Mother of a two day old baby found Covid-19 positive in Jabalpur

According to the doctors, the newborn is not infected by the virus. They have decided to keep the baby with the mother since a 2-day old would need breastfeeding.

Jabalpur: Two new cases of Coronavirus surfaced in the city on Thursday. One among them is the mother of a two day old baby. Reportedly, she gave birth to the baby in city’s Elgin hospital.  She was referred to Medical College hospital where her sample tested positive for Covid-19.

According to the doctors, the newborn is not infected by the virus. They have decided to keep the baby with the mother since a 2-day old would need breastfeeding. The baby would be fed by the mother by taking necessary precautions and using the PPE kit.

The doctors and nursing staff are ensuring the safety of the baby so that it doesn’t get infected during feeding.

Collector met the people in the containment zone

On Wednesday night, collector Bharat Yadav reached Chandni Chowk containment area and requested people to follow the guidelines. H talked to the residents and said that more the cooperation from the citizens, the sooner the relief can be given in the containment zone. The residents also enquired about the supply of basic amenities like milk, medicines, fruits and vegetables, and ration distribution.

The collector directed the officers to ensure the distribution of ration to the remaining families before Eid. He further instructed strict surveillance on the people found under high-risk in the health survey.

Nine new Covid-19 cases found in Sagar

Nine new positive coronavirus cases took Sagar’s Covid-19 tally to 51. Bundelkhand Medical College’s Dr. G S Patel informed that five patients have been recovered and discharged while 44 others are admitted in the Covid ward. Four of these patients are in critical condition and are currently in ICU and 2 others have been referred to Bhopal. Mask has been declared mandatory in the city and strict action will be taken against those breaking the rule.

Baby born in a migrant special train

A lady gave birth to a baby in a migrant special train in Chhindwara district. The train was en route Champa from Amritsar. The train was brought to a halt in Pandurna after the lady complained of labor pain. She was taken to the government hospital where she gave birth to the baby. The mother and the baby are reportedly keeping well.
