Motorola is apparently working on a new flagship smartphone, dubbed the Moto Z4. Citing a close source, XDA Developers claims that Motorola’s next-generation flagship smartphone is internally known as “Odin”. The handset will be powered by a Snapdragon 8150 processor and will support 5G Moto Mod. This is the first time we are hearing about the Moto Z4, which will succeed the Moto Z3.

While the company’s latest flagship was a mid-end smartphone, Motorola’s upcoming high-end phone will be a beast. According to XDA Developers, Moto Z4 will offer flagship-level specifications and features. The handset will reportedly be powered by a Snapdragon 8150, Qualcomm’s first 7nm processor and the answer to Apple’s A12 Bionic and Huawei’s Kirin 980 chipset. Odin will run Android 9.0 Pie and will also support the company’s 5G Moto Mod. This means that Motorola has no plans to drop Moto Mods support anytime soon.

Not much is known about the Moto Z4 at the moment, except the device would feature 4GB RAM and 32GB of internal storage. However, this could be the base variant of the Moto Z4. The source also claims that Motorola is working on a special software to accommodate an in-display fingerprint scanner, although the publication isn’t sure whether Odin would have the next-gen fingerprint scanner. It’s also being said that “Odin” is being developed for the US market. Evidently, Moto Z4 could be a “Verizon” exclusive device, like the Moto Z3.

Motorola hasn’t had a stellar year as far as sales of its smartphones is concerned. The Lenovo-owned company has been struggling to make a dent in major markets, including the US, India, and China. For now, Motorola has been maintaining silence over the next-generation flagship.
