MP: Aadhaar card verification reveals dogs as beneficiaries of public distribution system

Consumer pocketed the benefits from salesman by naming his dog as his son Raju in ration card to take away 60 kg of food grains.

Madhya Pradesh: During the Aadhaar card verification process at Bodiya fair price shop in Dhar District, it was found that a dog has been a beneficiary of the public distribution system. Until the identity was released, the dog in past one year took nearly 60 kg of food grains by the fair price shop.

Owner of the dog Narsingh Bodar had mentioned three names in the ration card incuding his wife and son. During the verification it was found that Bodar pocketed the benefits by naming his dog as his son.

As quoted by national daily TOI, Anand Gole, Dhar food officer said, “Narsingh Bodar, owner of the canine, had mentioned names of his wife and son in his ration card which was made around a year ago. The son, Raju, turned out to be his dog.”

The goof-up came to fore when the salesman Kailash Maru asked Bodar to present Aadhaar card copies of his family members to which, Boar produced his and his wife’s Aadhaard card. When asked for his son Raju, Bodar said, “Oh..he is my dog”.

The food officer claimed that the process of Aadhaar card updation on the Samagra Portal was on. Subsequently, the beneficiaries are being asked to produce their Aadhaar cards for verification.
