Incessant rainfall over the night has brought Mumbai to a standstill as several parts of the city is still under the water. Heavy rainfall continued to lash Mumbai even on Tuesday, crippling normal life across the city. the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy to extremely heavy rainfall across the state and have asked people to take precautionary measures.

A public holiday has been declared in Mumbai for schools and colleges and the state government has also advised offices to remain shut due to more rains and waterlogging. Meanwhile, local train services have also been hit as Central Railway has restricted the Central line and harbour line train to certain routes.

10:00 AM | Several flights and trains cancelled or rescheduled

54 flights have been diverted while 52 have been cancelled at Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport due to inclement weather, cross winds and tail winds. Several Trains have been rescheduled in the wake of heavy trains.


10:00 AM | No holiday in Bombay Stock Exchange

The Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) will function normally on Tuesday, July 2, and will remain open even after the state government of Maharashtra declared a public holiday on Tuesday due to incessant rains in the city.


09:45 AM | Maharashtra Govt declares public holiday in three districts due to heavy rain

Maharashtra government has declared a public holiday for today in 3 districts of the state – Mumbai City, Mumbai Suburban and Thane district. The decision has been taken due to continuous rainfall and IMD warning.
