Muzaffarpur shelter home case: JDU suspends former state minister Manju Verma from the party

Patna: Janata Dal-United (JDU) has finally suspended its former state minister and senior party member Manju Verma in the infamous Muzaffarpur Shelter Home case.

JDU state president Vashishtha Narayan Singh confirmed Verma’s suspension from the party. Manju Verma is still on the run and Supreme Court has slammed Nitis Kumar govt for not arresting the former minister.

Manju Verma had resigned as the Social Welfare Minister on August 8, after the police claimed that call records prove that her husband was in touch with key accused Brajesh Thakur on a regular basis.

She had made an announcement that she will resign from her position if her husband was found to be associated with Brijesh Thakur.

The Supreme Court has expressed displeasure over why the former Social Welfare Minister of Bihar in Nitish Kumar cabinet, Manju Verma is not arrested in Muzaffarpur Shelter Home Case.

Expressing the shock that the state police failed to trace and arrest the former minister Manju Verma, one of the accused in the case, SC has summoned the Bihar Chief Secretary and Director General of Police on Monday.

SC said “all is not well in Bihar. The former minister goes in hiding and the government is unable to trace and has failed to arrest her after her bail plea is rejected.”

However, The Patna High Court has rejected the anticipatory bail plea of Manju Verma on October 9, against her arrest by CBI, who is probing the case.

Chandershekhar Verma, husband of Manju Verma has already surrendered before the court on Monday in connection to the horrific shelter home case.
