The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) today submitted a progress report on the Muzaffarpur shelter home rape case to the Patna High Court. During a hearing on the shelter home rape case, the Patna High court has asked the CBI for further more documents related to the case including detailed correspondence regarding Police Superintendent’s transfer.

The CBI counsel Sanjay Kumar submitted the report on the status of the progress of the case and details on CBI’s SP officer’s transfer in a sealed cover. The report was handed to the bench comprising Chief Justice Mukesh R Shah and Justice Ravi Ranjan. The bench has posted the hearing of the case for tomorrow.

The Patna High Court on August 23 had asked the CBI to explain the reason behind transferring SP Mishra who happened to be a part of the investigation into the case. The CBI could not provide the details o the court then. In an order by the CBI headquarters, Mishra was moved from the Special Crime Branch to the office of the DIG at Patna on August 21.

This had erupted finger points on the CBI, as the opposition criticised the reshuffle calling it a disturbance in the probe. The Patna High Court has also exhibited disapproval over the leak of details of the investigation and has asked media to refrain from making it public.
