Narayan Tatu Rane Bio: Narayan Tatu Rane, an Indian National Congress (INC) representative, is one of Maharashtra’s most prominent political figures. Though the Congress had previously proposed Prithviraj Chavan as its candidate for the impending election on October 15, it appears that the party is currently undecided. Recently, Narayan Rane asserted that INC’s advertisements never touted Prithviraj Chavan as their candidate for governor. Rather, he asserted that he is one of the leading candidates for the coveted post if the Congress wins control of the state assembly. In the past, Narayan Rane served as the Chief Minister of Maharashtra for seven and a half months.

Early Life of Narayan Rane:
He was born on 10 April 1952 and had a modest upbringing. Before entering politics, he and his friends launched a chicken shop in Subhash Nagar, where he previously resided in a low-income housing society. However, his detractors point out some unsettling historical facts and associations. During the 1960s, he allegedly belonged to the Harya-Narya gang, which primarily operated in the Chembur neighbourhood of North East Mumbai, and a homicide case has been filed against him at the Ghatla police station. In addition, his detractors assert that he joined the Shiv Sena at the time in order to combat the rival gang of Mahadev Thakur.
Career in Politics of Narayan Rane:
After joining Shiv Sena, Bal Thackarey’s popularity among young people, coupled with his dynamism and leadership qualities, aided Rane’s rapid advancement through the ranks. In addition, he became Chief Minister after Manohar Joshi resigned. After Uddhav Thackarey was elected party president, he criticised his administrative skills and was subsequently expelled from the party. He subsequently joined the INC and became the first ever SS renegade to win an MLA election.

The Political Path of Narayan Rane:
Narayan entered politics at the age of 16 in 1968 and immediately began recruiting significant numbers of young people for the Shiv Sena. In the same year, his organisational skills enabled him become Shakha Pramukh of the SS Chembur branch. Between 1985 and 1990, he served as Corporator of his party.
He was elected to the Maharashtra Assembly in 1990 and served for the duration of his term. During this period, he also became the leader of the opposition. When Chhagan Bhujbal quit Shiv Sena in 1991, his rise within the party gained momentum. 1996 saw Rane become a full-fledged minister (Minister of Revenue) during the Shiv Sena–BJP government. Only in the first half of 1999 did he become the state’s chief executive. (February 1, 1999 – October 17, 1999). However, his association with Shiv Sena ended on July 3, 2005, when he was expelled from the party for criticising Uddhav Thackeray, the son of Bal Thackeray and the newly appointed Shiv Sena president.
After being expelled, he rejoined the Congress and won the assembly election once more. He moved on to become Maharashtra’s Minister of Revenue. (August 16, 2005 to December 6, 2008). However, he again rebelled in Congress and was expelled from the party for a lengthy six-year period. After apologising to Sonia Gandhi, he was readmitted to the party and became the Minister of Industries in 2009. (February 10 – November 9). However, in 2014 he once again criticised the working manner of the then-chief minister, Prithviraj Chavan. According to him, even after three years of decision-making, certain initiatives were not implemented. He retracted his resignation immediately. In a challenge to Prithviraj Chavan’s assertion, he has now declared his intention to become the Chief Minister of Maharashtra if the Congress wins state power.
