It was an easy win for the NDA candidate Harivansh Narayan Singh for the post of Rajya Sabha deputy chairman. The opposition fell short of votes. 125 votes came for Mr Singh whereas oppositions had to manage with 105 votes. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has congratulated and praised him on the occasion. PM said, “There were Hari’s at both sides, but I hope that with Harivansh Narayan Singh’s win Rajya Sabha will have ‘harikripa’.”

PM Modi while speaking to the house appreciated the newly elected Rajya Sabha deputy chairman’s large heartedness and said, Sing collected money for martyr’s family. Arun Jaitely also congratulated and wished that under Singh’s leadership, the level of public discourse will be elevated mainfold.
