Days after the Neyyattinkara murder took place, Mahin, the prime witness in the case has revealed that he has been on the receiving end of multiple death threats. Mahin has asked for police protection but has been told to wait until they receive a complaint.

As quoted by Manorama Online, Mahim said, “I don’t know if anything untoward will happen to me. I just said what I saw on that fateful day. I am not able to be at my shop, and I fear for my life. I am still in the grip of the tragic incident. I don’t feel like being at my hotel out of fear. Earlier, my family, including my wife Noorjahan, used to help me out in the business, but after the incident they are also in a quandary.”

Earlier, the police registered a murder case against the suburb’s DSP, B Harikumar, under section 302(Punishment for murder) of the Indian Penal Code. Section 302 of IPC states says, “Whoever commits murder shall be punished with death, or 1[imprisonment for life], and shall also be liable to fine.”

The deceased, Sanal Kumar was an electrician from the Kodungavila region. The incident took place at around 9:45 PM on Monday when B Harikumar was visiting his friend Binu. While leaving, he found his vehicle’s path blocked by the Kumar’s car. Reportedly, B Harikumar then assaulted Sanal and threw him on the nearby road when a passing vehicle hit him. Sanal was taken to the Medical College Hospital where he died at around 11 PM. Meanwhile, Harikumar is absconding.
