NFL Sunday Ticket: Typically, the NFL Sunday Ticket does not include preseason games; only regular-season Sunday afternoon games. However, YouTube TV conducted a test broadcast of the Minnesota Vikings-Tennessee Titans game for Ticket subscribers on Saturday night (August 19). There were no reports of pervasive problems. But it was only a single stream.
NFL Sunday Ticket: Will YouTube TV Stream More Preseason Games?
The decision to test some preseason games appears to be part of the streamer’s intensified preparation for carrying the Sunday Ticket for the first time beginning September 10, the first Sunday of the regular season. In the past few months, YouTube TV has experienced a number of technical issues with high-profile sports broadcasts, prompting some football fans to fear that the Sunday Ticket may encounter the same problems. The preseason tests could aid YouTube TV in ironing out any kinks in the NFL broadcasts.
This Saturday (August 26) at 1:00 p.m. ET, YouTube TV will stream three Sunday Ticket preseason games at the same time, posing a greater technical challenge for its staff. The contests will be between the Buffalo Bills and the Chicago Bears, the Seattle Seahawks and the Green Bay Packers, and the Arizona Cardinals and the Minnesota Vikings. Streaming a single game can be difficult and prone to errors, especially if it is a highly viewed event. The ability of the YTTV team to handle up to eight simultaneous games on the first Sunday of the regular season (September 10) will be put to the test, however, by broadcasting three games simultaneously on the first Sunday of the season (September 3), the team will be put to the test.
