Nine dead in Mexico in a shootout between drug cartel and marines

In a shootout between drug cartel gunmen and marines killed six people including five suspects and a taxi. The encounter took place in the border city of Reynosa in north Mexico. As per reports, three other people were also killed on Thursday in another shootout in the Tamaulipas state across the border from McAllen, Texas. The marines were responding to reports of armed men when they came under fire early yesterday. Unfortunately, there was a taxi driver as well in the situation also died in the encounter.

The situation didn’t come to an end with the gun firing, some unidentified suspects later burned tires to block roads and interfere with law enforcement authorities.

The dead gunmen were believed to be part of a Gulf Cartel wing commanded by Julian Loisa Salinas, known as Comandante Toro. Reynosa has long been dominated by the Gulf drug cartel.
