Railway Minister, Piyush Goyal has asked the catering staff of railways to stop overcharging for food and stop seeking tips from the passengers.

A letter from minister’s office was sent to all zonal railway units across the nation. It asked them to ensure that the practice is stopped with immediate effect.

A strict deadline of 48 hours to end the practice was also given and the catering inspectors would be checking if Goyal’s orders had been executed or not from Monday.

The report further added that social media would also be checked to watch passengers complaining either of overcharging or about waiters asking for tips.

The practice of tips came with the introduction of Rajdhani Express. However, asking for tips from passengers has become a usual practice in trains.
