Amit Shah on Monday has said that there is no question of him getting designated to the Rajya Sabha and subsequently resigning as the BJP President. When asked if he would fight the Rajya Sabha polls, he said, “There is no question of doing so. I have the responsibility of being the party president. I am happy, and I am working wholeheartedly. You people (media) please do not push.”

The BJP president also denied its party’s hand in Congress legislators being ‘poached’ in Gujarat. He slammed the Congress for keeping its legislators “under arrest” in Bangalore. “We have no role to play in the Congress’s defections. Why does the Congress need to keep its MLAs under arrest in Karnataka, where it is itself in power?” Shah said while responding to a question.

Shah also denied reports that the BJP had anything to do with the breaking of the grand alliance in Bihar. “(Bihar CM) Nitish Kumar had put in his papers himself, ending the Mahagathbandhan to join hands with the BJP,” he said.

Shah’s managerial skills are a strength that the BJP has been banking on for elections. His booth-level campaigning strategies have set the flow in his party’s favour.
