No SSI in June 2025? Here’s Why You Didn’t Get It

SSI recipients won’t get a payment in June 2025 because the Social Security Administration sent it early on May 30, due to June 1 falling on a Sunday.

SSI in June 2025: People who get Supplemental Security Income (SSI) may notice that they will not receive any payment in June 2025. But don’t worry this does not mean their benefits were stopped or reduced. It’s just because of how the Social Security Administration (SSA) pays out SSI checks. Usually, SSI money arrives on the first day of every month.

But if that date falls on a weekend or a holiday, then the SSA sends the money earlier. For June 2025, the first day of the month is a Sunday. Because of that, SSI recipients already got their June payment on Friday, May 30. They also received their usual May 1st payment. So even though no money comes in June, it’s only because they already got it early.

According to the official SSA calendar, the next SSI payments for the rest of the year will be:

  • Tuesday, July 1
  • Friday, August 1
  • Friday, September 29
  • Wednesday, October 1
  • Friday, October 31 (corresponding to November, as the 1st falls on a Saturday)
  • Monday, December 1
  • Wednesday, December 31 (corresponding to January 2026)

This kind of early payment setup is something the SSA does often, and it doesn’t mean you miss out on anything. You still get your full money it’s just shifted around on the calendar.

More Early Payments in 2025

This situation isn’t just happening in June. Other months in 2025 will also have early payments because the first day of the month sometimes lands on a weekend or a holiday. It helps you plan your money better and know what to expect.

Other Benefits are Paid Differently

People who get other types of Social Security payments, like retirement or survivor benefits, follow a different schedule. Their money is usually sent based on their birthdate or when they started receiving benefits.

These payments are distributed on Wednesdays, depending on the beneficiary’s date of birth:

  • Born between the 1st and 10th of the month: they receive their payment on the second Wednesday of the month (June 11)
  • Born between the 11th and 20th: they will receive their payment on the third Wednesday of the month (June 18)
  • Born between the 21st and 31st of the month: they receive their payment on the fourth Wednesday of the month (June 25)

If someone started getting Social Security before May 1997, they get paid on the 3rd of each month no matter what day it falls on. This is different from SSI. So it’s always helpful for people to check the SSA’s official payment calendar and look at their own benefit type to make sure they understand their own schedule.
