According to the reports, a woman committed suicide by jumping in front of an oncoming train at Sector 16 metro station in Noida, Uttar Pradesh, earlier today.
The deceased has been identified as Sheetal Shrivastav, resident of Noida Sector 22. She was working with Just Dial online local search platform.
Going by inputs based on eyewitness’ accounts, passengers were being asked to evacuate the metro train as it stood at the station by Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel.
“We could see a body covered in a white sheet as security personnel asked us to deboard the train at Sector 16,” one eyewitness told media outlets.
As per the latest reports in this regards, the cause of the suicide could not be determined. The body has been sent for the post-mortem.
“Delay in service between Noida Electronic City and Dwarka Sector 21 after a girl jumped in front of an approaching train at Noida sector-16 heading towards Dwarka at around 10.45 am,” a DMRC spokesperson said.
Delhi Metro’s Blue line services were effected due the incident, however, services on all other lines remained unaffected.
