Odisha CM inaugurates biggest integrated steel plant of the state

In a proud moment for Odisha, Chef Minister Naveen Patnaik inaugurated the state’s biggest integrated steel plant and made it operational on Saturday.

Inaugurating the state of the art six mtpa steel plant of JSPL, Patnaik said that it would provide direct employment to around 30,000 people and indirect jobs to many others.

JSPL Chairman Naveen Jindal said the that it was set up at an investment of about Rs 33,000 crore. He also said Jindal Steel & Power Limited would start earning and play significant role in the development of the state.

The plant has 4,554 cubic meter blast furnace, which will make Odisha the fourth largest steel maker in India. JSPL also becomes the first company to complete this huge steel project in accordance with the memorandum of understanding with the state government.

In 2015, JSPL had installed two mtpa steel making capacity at its Angul steel complex with Coal Gasification – DRI route, which is being used for the first time in the world. Later it added four mtpa steel making capacity.

JSPL had signed an MoU with the Odisha government to build the mega steel plant in 2005.
