New Delhi: The Delhi High Court has granted regular bail to Olympic medalist wrestler Sushil Kumar in the murder case of junior wrestler Sagar Dhankar. Sushil, who was arrested in June 2021, had been in jail for nearly three years. Previously, in 2023, he was granted seven days of interim bail for knee surgery.
What Is the Case About?
On May 4, 2021, a brutal attack took place in the parking area of Chhatrasal Stadium in Delhi, where wrestler Sagar Dhankar and his two friends were assaulted. Sagar later succumbed to his injuries during treatment. Following the incident, Sushil Kumar went into hiding but was arrested by Delhi Police on May 23, 2021.
