Soon after the Pakistan Supreme Court ruled that Prime Minister, Nawaz Sharif, who was named in the Panama Papers investigation, has been disqualified from holding office, Indians on Twitter started questioning when the bigwig here named in the panama paper case will get convicted. Besides, #panamapaper is also trending after the verdict on Twitter with people trolling BJP and Nawaz Sharif together.
The verdict was announced by a five-judge bench, headed by Justice Asif Saeed Khosa in Pakistan. Sharif was involved in money laundering to buy assets in London in the 1990s. The 2016 Panama Papers leak revealed that the assets were being managed through offshore companies owned by Sharif’s children.
The Panama Papers investigation was carried out by multiple news organisations after the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ) shared files from the database of the world’s fourth biggest offshore law firm, Mossack Fonseca. The records had been obtained from an anonymous source by German newspaper, Süddeutsche Zeitung.
In India, megastar Amitabh Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, DLF owner, KP Singh and nine members of his family, promoters of Apollo Tyres and Indiabulls, Gautam Adani’s elder brother Vinod Adani and several others were named in the case. Here’s how Indian reacted after the Pakistan SC verdict:

Pakistan Supreme court disqualifies Nawaz Sharif in #PanamaPapers . Simply stunning. In India #Panama papers ended up as a newspaper report

Disqualification of #NawazSharif is a lesson India must learn. In India those named in #PanamaCase disguise as nationalists.
