Home Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday praised the Delhi Police for its response to the Delhi violence. He said it had contained the rioting within 36 hours and prevented it from spreading to other areas.

Home Minister Amit Shah replied last evening to a Lok Sabha discussion of last month’s riots in Delhi, in which over 50 people were killed. He vowed not to spare those responsible, irrespective of their religion, caste or party affiliation, and described the violence as “prima facie a pre-planned conspiracy”.

The Delhi Police was excoriated for failing to control the riots, but Shah, on the other hand, praised their response.
