Home Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday praised the Delhi Police for its response to the Delhi violence. He said it had contained the rioting within 36 hours and prevented it from spreading to other areas.
Senior Congress leader Kapil Sibal told the Rajya Sabha that two kinds of virus are being debated today – the coronavirus and a “communal” virus. He blamed hate speeches made by BJP leaders in the weeks before the violence — he named no one — and asked Home Minister Amit Shah why FIRs hadn’t been filed yet.

After the Lok Sabha’s Wednesday discussion of the Delhi riots, the Rajya Sabha is expected to begin its debate at 2 pm today. Home Minister Amit Shah will give his reply by 5.30 pm.
Home Minister Amit Shah replied last evening to a Lok Sabha discussion of last month’s riots in Delhi, in which over 50 people were killed. He vowed not to spare those responsible, irrespective of their religion, caste or party affiliation, and described the violence as “prima facie a pre-planned conspiracy”.
The Delhi Police was excoriated for failing to control the riots, but Shah, on the other hand, praised their response.
