Two days after South Indian superstar Rajinikanth announced that he might join politics, BJP president Amit Shah on Sunday said the party’s doors were open for him. However, Shah said that it is entirely upon the actor to take a call on whether he wants to join the party or not.
In Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, BJP State president Tamilisai Soundararajan had earlier criticised the actor for praising DMK leader MK Stalin and said that he was ideologically inclined towards the BJP. He also said that the party would strengthen if he joins BJP.
Union Urban Development Minister Venkaiah Naidu in Bengaluru said that he was unaware of any proposed meeting between Rajinikanth and the Prime Minister. “Rajinikanth is a great actor. Modi is a great leader. If he wants to meet the Prime Minister, there is no problem,” he said.
