On his 57th birthday, Shah Rukh Khan released the first teaser for his highly anticipated film “Pathaan,” giving his fans the perfect return gift.
On Wednesday, the actor, who plays the titular spy in the upcoming Yash Raj Films (YRF) production, shared a 1.25-minute teaser on his official Twitter account.

The video begins with an interrogation in which the informant claims Pathaan has been missing for three years due to his cover being blown in the previous mission.

“Suna hai bohot torture kiya usey (I’ve heard he was tortured a lot),” the voiceover informant says.
This dialogue appears to allude to Shah Rukh’s self-imposed hiatus from the movies following the box office failure of 2018’s “Zero.”
However, he appeared in films such as “Rocketry: The Nambi Effect,” “Laal Singh Chaddha,” and “Brahmastra Part One: Shiva” this year.
When a man wonders if Pathaan is dead, Shah Rukh appears as the battered, bloodied spy who declares his survival (“Zinda hai”). It’s a nice nod to his friend and fellow Bollywood star Salman Khan, whose most recent film in YRF’s “Tiger” franchise was “Tiger Zinda Hai” (2017).
“Pathaan,” billed as a “high-octane spy thriller,” is directed by Siddharth Anand of “War” and “Bang Bang” fame. Deepika Padukone and John Abraham also appear in the film.
Deepika is also seen doing stylish stunts and romancing Shah Rukh in the teaser. On a moving trailer truck, John, who previously appeared in YRF’s biker action hit “Dhoom,” collides with the superstar.
The film is also Shah Rukh and Deepika’s fourth collaboration, following her Bollywood debut “Om Shanti Om,” “Chennai Express,” and “Happy New Year.” After “Desi Boyz” and “Race 2,” John and Deepika are collaborating once more.
“Pathaan” will be released in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu on January 25, 2023. Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan both made cameo appearances in “Pathaan” and “Tiger 3”, respectively. YRF intends to combine the characters from these films to create a larger spy universe.
