Patna: The fear of coronavirus has also spread in temples. The crowd of devotees on Wednesday in the Mahavir temple complex was smaller than the rush of any normal day. After morning and afternoon passed, the devotees in temple premises were seen chanting Hanuman Chalisa in the temple premises with a few masks.

On behalf of the temple administration, however, a small casket of herbs along with Naivedyam was offered to the devotees at the Naivedyam Laddu counter.

It has brought about contrasting reaction among the public. Devotees, however, have informed the media that they were being told that by smelling this Ayurvedic herb, an infection like coronavirus can be kept away. However, some people appreciated this effort of the temple administration and some said it was wrong.

On, March 05, a similar sort of incident also got reported from Hyderabad where priests at the famous Chilkur Balaji claimed that Hyderabad’s “Visa Venkateswara” temple has come up with a “cure” to contain the coronavirus outbreak.

On March 05, the temple claims to have organised special prayers and the devotees were asked to recite the Apamarjana Stotram (hymns) and the Sudarshana Ashtakam repeatedly to eradicate the virus.

“We had held prayers once before, last month, but with COVID-19 cases being reported in Hyderabad, we are conducting special prayers,” C S Rangarajan, the temple’s famed priest said
