PGA Championship Dominance: Every May, fans look forward to the PGA Championship, which was originally a match-play event before becoming a stroke-play event in 1958.
What is the PGA Championship
As one of the four major championships played annually, the PGA Championship is an annual golf competition held in May – it used to be held in August until 2019.
In addition to the Masters, the U.S. Open, and the Open Championship (British Open), the Championship has some unique features.
For starters, the champion of the competition earns automatic qualification for the three tournaments mentioned above.

This champion is also exempt from qualifying for the PGA Championship for the rest of his or her life.
As if that weren’t enough, the defending champion also receives PGA Tour membership for five years and invitations to the Players Championship.
As opposed to many other tournaments on the Tour, the winner of the Wanamaker Trophy can keep it until the following year.
Because of the First and Second World Wars, this event has not been staged since 1917 and 1918, as well as 1943.
